About Me

Welcome! Thank you for visiting my little corner of the web.

My name is Christina and I'm 27 years old. I live in Virginia Beach with my husband Ben and our two dogs Chewy and Watson. Some people would say I was born in the wrong decade and I would say they're right! I adore the 1920's-1960's. I have a love for vintage hair and fashion, makeup, tattoos, robots, old movies, cooking, baking, road trips, Harry Potter and Judy Garland. My favorite thing to do is getting cozy on the couch with a big cup of tea and watching TCM (Turner Classic Movies).

A Little Bit of History...

I've always had a passion for anything vintage but I believe it began after the first time I saw The Wizard of Oz when I was a child. I was completely captivated by Judy Garland and the whole style of the film. I also think my dad had a big influence. He was born in the 1940's and I would always ask him questions about growing up during that time and I was fascinated when he would share his stories. The oldies radio station was just about the only thing he would listen to in the car so I was exposed to a lot of 50's and 60's music.

Now I really didn't develop a vintage sense of style until about six years ago. I started buying vintage and retro inspired clothing and venturing into vintage hairstyles. I bought my first actual vintage dress a year or two ago. It was a 1940's plaid shirtdress and I fell in love. To be honest I don't own a plethora of authentic vintage clothing because it can be quite expensive but I'll buy an item if it's a good deal or I'll splurge every once in a while. I think it's perfectly fine to mix vintage clothing with reproduction and vintage inspired pieces. No purist here!

My husband joined the Army in 2007 and we got stationed to Fort Carson, Colorado. We were newlyweds at the time and I essentially became the homemaker. There were days when I had a lot of time on my hands and on one of those days I discovered makeup and hair tutorials on YouTube. I quickly became obsessed with watching people like XSparkage and ItsJudyTime. One thing I noticed was that there weren't very many people on YouTube who had a vintage/retro type of style so I mustered up the courage to film my first tutorial and posted it. I started making more videos and gaining more subscribers. Then I noticed other YouTubers starting to pop up who had a similar style as me and that made me so excited! I was happy to see other ladies out there that had the same interests as me.

I started this blog two years ago but never really posted anything on a regular basis. That all changed once I started to browse other blogs with similar interests. I became inspired and wanted a place where I could share my thoughts, tips and tricks. So here I am now typing this up and I'm going to thank you for reading all of this and taking the time to stop by. I hope that you enjoy your stay and feel free to leave any comments or feedback. I'd love to hear from you! :)
